The Japanese artist Sneakerwolf and the Tokyo based retailer KicksLab have teamed up with ASICS for one of the last collaborations of 2016. The Asics Gel Lyte III “Hikeshi-Hanten” will release on December 10th in-store and online at Kickslab and will be retailed at 150€.
ASICS Tiger has teamed up with the Harajuku located sneaker store KicksLab and the well-known Japanese artist Sneakerwolf for a Japan represented collaboration.
This collaboration takes his inspiration and name from the fireman era between 1603-1868 known as “Hikeshi” and the uniforms of the firefighter, which consist of the same three colors featured on the sneaker.
The “Hikeshi-Hanten” features a indigo tone trough-out the upper with white and vermillion leather parts on the eyestay and quarter panel. The combination of weaved cotton on the toe box, quarter panels and tongue and suede on the rest of the upper gives a very premium look to an incredible pair.
The ending detail comes with the Japanese embroidery on the tongue, but also with the tiger and dragon graphic on the insoles. The pair will come accompanied by two rope lace options in blue and red.
Personally I’m pretty much in love with this pair. I think ASICS and KicksLab have done a very nice job overall, and they definitely made the right choice taking Sneakerwolf into this project, as the details are on point. The materials look very interesting and high quality in the first pictures. The color way seems spot on in my opinion, I really like the navy tone they used and the combination with the red and white works really well.
The details on outsole and on the insoles, as well as the Japanese embroidery on the tongue, are touches added by Sneakerwolf, which make this pair even more special.
I already secured myself a pair with the pre-order, so I’ll be receiving them before Christmas, as the perfect finish to the year.
Keep posted for more on feet pics and more about the ASICS Gel Lyte III x KicksLab xx Sneakerwolf”Hikeshi-Hantan”, which will drop on December 10th at KicksLab in Japan retailed at 150€. The pair is now available for pre-order at Kickslab.
The collaboration won’t drop at any further European retailer, but to my knowledge we’ll be seeing a few US retailers stocking them for the worldwide release.
