ASICS Tiger and the long time partner Patta have teamed up for a great collaboration on the recent re-introduced Gel Lyte OG, which will be releasing this upcoming Saturday, July 29th at Patta Amsterdam and London locations.
The original Gel-Lyte I, was the beginning of the Gel Lyte series with its colour blocking and reflective forefoot panels for extra visibility. The light feel of the shoe was assisted by the solitary heel Gel unit and a tri-density midsole, nylon synthetic fabric and Duraskin reinforcement.
An anti-torque staibility system was applied on the Gel Lyte OG with motion control in mind, while the blown rubber outsole with a gum rubber heel plug completed this mid to high mileage creation.
The Japanese brand and Patta have worked together, on what seems to be one of the best Projects so far this year.
Patta’s take on the Gel Lyte OG employs a light grey base combined with dark purple nubuck overlays, accented with ginger Tiger stripes and pink hits details, like the striping underlay, lace stays and Patta-branded lace locks.
The collab feature a perforated toebox, soft leather lining, with subtle co- branding to be found on the woven tongue label, embroidered on the heel tab, printed on the insole.
Every pair comes with a custom ASICS Tiger and Patta hangtag, additional sets of pink and ginger laces.
Personally, I really like the way that ASICS is trying to work on the Gel Lyte OG. It’s indeed one of the best silhouettes they decided to bring back together with the Gel Lyte V in the last couple of years.
In my opinion, the pair is even better in hand than what you can see on the pictures. The material mix works very well together and the color way is on point. I’m lucky enough to have them already in hand and it’s definitely the best runner I’ve seen so far this year from ASICS.

Stay tuned for more on feet shots and information about this pair really soon and make sure to try your luck next Saturday, July 29th at Patta locations or online from July 31st.
The worldwide release should take place one week after, on August 5th at selected ASICS Tiger retailers.
