Asics Tiger and Colette are collaborating once again to create the “Yukata” pack, which consists of two Gel Lyte V’s that will drop on October 22nd at Colette and United Arrows & Sons. Both pairs will be priced at 150€.
Colette along with Asics Tiger took their inspiration of the Yukata pattern, which is a traditional and very popular Japanese Kimono made out of cotton. This piece of clothing can be worn by men and women for different occasions.
The first pair features a blue color way throughout the upper and is made of printed leather and two-toned white and blue mesh on the toe box, side panels and heel.
The second one is presented in a white cw with embroidered leather all trough the upper part of the sneaker. Each Gel Lyte V features contrasted stripes on the medial side and both Colette and Asics logos embroidered on the heel.
The blue pair is limited to 150 pairs worldwide and will only be available at the in-store release at Colette and United Arrows & Sons. However the white pair, will be available at worldwide retailers. Both pairs include blue and white waxed laces, which will be accompanied by some goodies at the in-store release.
The Asics Gel Lyte V “Yukata” pack will be presented during the Tokyo Fashion Week between October 17th and 22nd.
I find it very interesting, that they chosen a Japanese inspiration for the project to honor a bit the origins of the brand, but I’m not convinced by the final product. I have so much respect for Colette for what they have done in the past, but it’s the same color way as on the Dotty last year. Even if I like the idea behind the project and they used different materials from what we see usually, I was expecting something different in this occasion to be honest.
Let’s hope we can see Asics and Colette drop some crazy pairs again in future, like they did back in 2008 together with Lamjc!
Stay tuned for more information about the release of the Asics Gel Lyte V x Colette “Yukata” pack which will become available on October 22nd at Colette in Paris and United Arrows & Sons in Harajuku. The white pair will drop at selected retailers worldwide on October 29th and retailed at 150€.
