The Gel Respector has had a good start into the year with the collaboration with 24 Kilates and various nice general releases. This time Patta has gotten the privilege to create his own color way on the silhouette, which made his comeback last year.
I’ve seen already some pairs floating around the net, but finally those who fell in love with the color combo, will get a chance to grab a pair on February 27th at Patta.
It’s been a while since we seen a collab between Asics and Amsterdam based Patta, to be exact the last time was 2011, when they released the Gel Saga. The history between Patta and the Japanese brand began in 2007, when they worked together on the Gel Lyte III, which should be known to the Asics collectors from back in the day. They also worked on a trilogy pack on the Gel Lyte Speed in honoring the three artists Delta, Elms and Parra.
In this occasion the pair found his inspiration in the colorful anime films and characters, which are typical in Japan, that’s why they decided to use a unseen color combination including blue upper, orange tiger stripes, marine green tongue and grey toe box, quarter panels and sole, working on premium suede and nubuck.
Even if I’m a big fan of the Gel Respector silhouette and the choice of material on this pair looks pretty decent, I won’t be copping them as the color way isn’t my cup of tea. I think Patta deserves much respect for all the work they’ve done in the past with all the brands, but this time the shoe doesn’t do it for me.
If your keen on this pair, get ready as they’re set to release on February 27th in store and online exclusively at Patta in Amsterdam.
